LM-SSBS Asphalt Modifier

1 Product Overview

    In order to resolve the issues, such as strict requirements during storage and transportation, and the phenomenon of segregation in the application of SBS modified asphalt, our experts developed the LM-S (SBS) asphalt modifier after years of R&D work.

Tests indicate the indexes for the mixture with LM-S (SBS) asphalt modifier is better or equal to those of SBS modified mixture. Therefore, LM-S (SBScan replace SBS modifier. Its pavement performance is at the same level with that of SBS modified mixture or even higher.

2 Reference Mix Amount

    The SBS mix amount is normally 3%-5% of the modified asphalt. Our LM-S (SBS) can replace the SBS with the mix amount of 10%-20% of the asphalt, which has a wider application range and an equivalent amount of asphalt can be replaced while using LM-SSBS

The Advantages of LM-S

6 Product Transportation

    The LM-S series products should avoid sun exposure, keep away from Mmisture, contamination and scratches during transportation. Keep the outer packing in good condition. In case of complete packaging, transportation according to general cargo transportation standard is allowed.

 

7 Product Storage 

    The LM-S products should be stored in a dry, ventilated place. They should avoid ultraviolet irradiation. Stop Kindling. They cannot be stored together with organic solvents. The LM series products can be stored long-term at room temperature.

9 LM-S Application Method in Lab

    The design method for asphalt concrete does not change, after mixing LM-S, an identical or partial amount of asphalt can be replaced, which does not change the designed mix proportion for asphalt mixture and its asphalt aggregate ratio.

1. LM-S cannot be directly input into the asphalt, it must be blended evenly with the aggregates and then input asphalt. Before testing, calculate the required amount of materials according to the requirement of tested items. Pay attention that an identical or partial amount of asphalt can be replaced through mixing LM-S. 

2. Measure the aggregates with different sizes according to calculation, After mixing, heat them to 185-195. After the temperature reaches the required value, input the aggregates into the mixing pot, start blending.

3. Input the LM-S, dry blend it with the heated aggregates for 90 seconds.

4. Then input the base asphalt into the mix pot, blend for another 90 seconds.

5. Finally, input the mineral powder into mix pot, blending for another 90 seconds.

6. During the whole process of blending, the temperature cannot exceed 185.

7. When the mixing completes, input the mixture into the mold and compact. The compaction temperature is 175-185.

8. Sample Testing: Test according to JTG E20-2011 The Test Procedure for Highway Engineering Asphalt and Asphalt Mixture. Clients can select test methods according to actual situation.

10 LM-S Production Method in Blending Tower

 

 

(1)  LM-S cannot be directly input into the asphalt, it must be input in the mix pot either simultaneously with the aggregates or 1-2 seconds after it, and blend with it evenly, then input the asphalt. Before production in the blending tower, calculate the required amount of materials according to production quantity of mixture per batch and its asphalt and aggregates ratio. Pay attention, LM-S can identically or partially replace base asphalt.

(2) Control the aggregate heating temperature at 185-195oC. After the aggregates are heated,input them into the mix pot. The LM-S is input into the mix pot either manually or through feeder at the same time with the aggregate. If it is input manually, input it through the viewport all at once; in case of feeder input, it is transmitted into the mix pot through air-tight pipeline, which is connected with the viewport.

(3) After inputting the aggregates and LM-S, convey base asphalt. The temperature is controlled at 155-165, Blend all together.

(4) Finally, input mineral powder and blend together. 

(5) Items (1) - (4) are the advice on Production Process for mixing LM-S. Principally, the mix of LM-S does not change the existing production process. The input order of all ingredients and the mixing time of each stage are as per SBS modified asphalt construction work experience.

The discharging temperature controlled between 175- 195.
